My Students Tell It Like It Is
“I’ve had the pleasure of learning Italian with Lea. I couldn’t be more impressed! As a native of Italy, she brings an unparalleled level of authenticity and expertise in her tutoring. Plus, her fluency in French language. Lea is patient, kind, and tailors teaching instruction to meet my learning needs. I highly recommend Lea to anyone seeking to learn Italian from a true expert. You won’t find a better teacher!”

“My two beginning Italian classes with Lea were both valuable and engaging. She is an excellent instructor, not an easy accomplishment over Zoom. She not only teaches the nuts and bolts of grammar, syntax and vocabulary but also puts her instruction into a cultural context. Lea makes it clear that language is a cultural artifact and can tell us much about how the people of a nation think and interact. With her guidance, I was able to learn about the history of the language, and also enjoy the more lighthearted context of Italian cars and calcio (soccer, to us Americans). I would enthusiastically recommend Lea’s classes to anyone. looking for an entertaining and enlightening educational experience.”

“Lea listens well. She answers all my questions. I enjoy learning Italian from her. And she has the best Italian accent! She seems to adjust our lessons to my inabilities, and is very encouraging. Great teacher.”

“I began studying Italian with Lea almost a year ago and I have grown very much in my skills! I can read literature (e.g. Italo Calvino) with a fair degree of fluency and I can watch Italian films with Italian subtitles with a substantial degree of comprehension. My fluency in conversation is still quite elementary, but has improved, and my working vocabulary has expanded. I can compose short papers (c. 450 words) in Italian. I appreciate Lea’s teaching style, because she offers rigorous engagement with grammar and also provides assignments that integrate what we have learned in a given week, are fun to do, and are manageable for students like myself with a full-time job and other responsibilities that do not allow me as much time as I would like to learn Italian. Lea’s teaching style is also very student-centered. She meets you where you are, and presents appropriate challenges and provides lots of positive and constructive feedback. I highly recommend studying with Lea!” E.C., Pasadena CA
