Peroni Beer is the quintessential Italian beer. Born in 1846 in Vigevano, in Lombardy, through the work of Francesco Peroni, it tells the story and tradition of the Bel Paese through its quality. Its secrets are the carefully selected raw materials, such as Italian malt, and the meticulousness of the production processes.
Peroni’s real success came after World War 2, with the economic boom and the company’s large investments in marketing, creating the image of the “National Blonde”: the Italian beer that brings our country together and also symbolizes it. (In Italy, we don’t say “light beer” or “lager,” we say “blond beer.” Isn’t that beautiful?)
Peroni Nastro Azzurro is a premium beer launched in 1963 by the Peroni brewery in Rome.
“Nastro Azzurro” is Italian for “Blue Ribbon,” and this lager beer was named in honor of the Blue Riband won by Italian ocean liner SS Rex in 1933.
One of its important ingredients is the exclusively Italian corn variety, mais nostrano, which gives this beer a decidedly dry and fragrant taste while not interfering with its intense aroma of hops.
